Children and Families Legal Assistance Forums
The Children and Families Legal Assistance Forum (CAFLAF) is a specialist forum established as a sub-committee of the QLAF.
The aim of the forum is to encourage cooperation and collaboration between legal assistance service providers working with families and children and to promote good practice across legal assistance services in the delivery of legal and related services to families and children.
Group members
A steering committee guides the work of the CAFLAF, consisting of representatives from the following QLAF member organisations:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS)
- Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG)
- Community Legal Centres Queensland (CLCQ)
- Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ)
- Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service (QIFVLS)
- Women’s Legal Service Queensland
- Caxton Legal Centre Inc
- North Queensland Women's Legal Service (NQWLS)
Terms of reference
- Promote cooperation and collaboration between legal assistance service providers working with families and children.
- Promote good practice across legal assistance services in the delivery of legal and related services to families and children.
- Advise the QLAF on issues relevant to provision of legal services to families and children.
- Lead discussions around systemic change and advocacy between legal assistance service providers working with families and children.
- A steering committee will be established to guide the work of the CAFLAF and will include representatives from:
- ATSILS
- CLCs
- DJAG
- LAQ
- QIFVLS
- CLCQ.
- The CAFLAF will meet at least twice a year. DJAG will chair and provide secretariat support.
