Monitoring the implementation of the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will bring significant benefit to the lives of people with disability. Considering the people who will access the NDIS, it is likely that the NDIS will also have a significant impact on people with impaired decision-making capacity and Queensland’s guardianship system.

We are committed to monitoring the implementation of the NDIS across Queensland, with a particular focus on people with impaired decision-making capacity.

As part of this work we plan to publish a series of case studies relating to the NDIS experience of Queensland adults with impaired decision-making capacity, including how well the NDIS has facilitated choice and control in their lives. We want to enable people with impaired decision-making capacity to share their perspectives on whether they think that the NDIS has supported them to greater autonomy and helped them achieve the goals in their plans. We will also monitor the implementation of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and provide timely advice and feedback on implementation issues to the National Disability Insurance Agency/Scheme and the Queensland Government.
