Children and Families Legal Assistance Forum
The Children and Families Legal Assistance Forum (CAFLAF) is a specialist forum established as a sub-committee of the Queensland Legal Assistance Forum (QLAF).
The aim of the forum is to encourage cooperation and collaboration between legal assistance service providers working with families and children and to promote good practice across legal assistance services in the delivery of legal and related services to families and children.
Group members
The CAFLAF's membership includes representatives from the following organisations:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS)
- Caxton Legal Centre Inc
- Community Legal Centres Queensland (CLCQ)
- Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG)
- Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ)
- North Queensland Women's Legal Service (NQWLS)
- Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service (QIFVLS)
- Women’s Legal Service Queensland.
Terms of reference
- Promote cooperation and collaboration between legal assistance service providers working with families and children.
- Promote good practice across legal assistance services in the delivery of legal and related services to families and children.
- Advise the QLAF on issues relevant to provision of legal services to families and children.
- Lead discussions around systemic change and advocacy between legal assistance service providers working with families and children.
- The CAFLAF will meet at least twice a year.
- DJAG will chair and provide secretariat support.
