Legal assistance services funding

In December 2024, the Attorney-General announced an additional $142 million for Queensland’s community legal services, bringing the total state funding to just over $1 billion over five years. This commitment unlocked $827 million in Commonwealth funding under the National Access to Justice Partnership (NAJP) agreement.

This funding supports Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service, (ATSILS), Women’s Legal Services (WLS), Community Legal Centres (CLC), Family Violence Prevention and Legal Services (FVPLS) and Community Legal Centres Queensland (CLCQ).

A breakdown of the 2025-30 funding provided to individual community organisations is set out below.

CLC and WLS Program Coordination funding

At the start of each funding cycle, a portion of funding is quarantined to ensure that necessary costs for CLCs and WLS can be met for the whole funding period.

Throughout the funding cycle, these allocations may be adjusted where needed.
