Community consultation

Community consultation is important to us. We welcome your submissions and feedback when we review current laws, justice programs and our services.

The community is a valuable source of information. Your input helps us:

  • better understand the issues
  • ensure our laws reflect community expectations
  • protect and enhance our ability to live in a safe and secure environment
  • develop and implement policies and services
  • meet community needs.

Consultation provides us with another way to connect with the community. It gives you the opportunity to get involved with the business of government.

Review of model defamation provisions
Consultation expiry: 24 January 2020

We are seeking feedback as part of a national review on draft amendments to the Model Defamation Provisions. The review is being undertaken by the Defamation Working Party, established by the national Council of Attorneys-General. An unofficial consolidation of the draft amendments has been prepared to assist the review. The accompanying background paper explains the policy rationale for the proposed amendments and confirms the position of the Council of Attorneys-General on each question raised in the discussion paper that was released in February 2019. Send all submissions to the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, as per the information on their page.
