Social media disclaimer

The opinions and views expressed on Department of Justice (DoJ) social media platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube represent those of individual participants and online communities, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the DoJ or the Queensland Government.

Monitoring and responses

While DoJ makes reasonable efforts to monitor and/or moderate content posted on its social media platforms, we cannot always respond in a timely manner to online requests for information and some information cannot be released publicly.

DoJ will only respond to comments during standard business hours and the department’s social media platforms are only monitored during standard business hours.

Content

DoJ makes no guarantees, promises or claims about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of content shared on its social media platforms and expressly disclaims all liability for errors or omissions. No warranty of any kind—expressed, implied or statutory, including but not limited to non-infringement of third-party rights—is provided in relation to content or links to external sites. Links shared on DoJ channels are for informational purposes only and do not constitute endorsement.

User conduct guidelines

We encourage respectful dialogue and constructive engagement. However, the following content is strictly prohibited and may be edited, deleted, or result in the user being blocked. When contributing to the DoJ community do not post any material that contains:

  • personal or identifying information (e.g. private addresses, phone numbers, email addresses)
  • false representation of individuals, organisations, or government entities
  • commercial promotion or advertising
  • copyright-infringing material
  • hate speech, threats, harassment, or bullying
  • profanity, obscenity, or offensive/vulgar imagery
  • discriminatory, racist, defamatory, or inflammatory remarks
  • name-calling or personal attacks toward individuals, groups, other users, or DoJ staff
  • irrelevant or repetitive content, including spam or excessive tagging
  • unauthorised promotion of events, organisations or programs unrelated to DoJ
  • false representation of another individual, organisation, government or entity.

DoJ reserves the right to review, moderate, edit, or remove content at its sole discretion. Repeated violations may lead to users being blocked from our social media channels.

Links to other websites, which are linked from DoJ social media platforms, are provided as a guide only and these links do not constitute endorsement of those sites by DoJ or the Queensland Government. As such, DoJ is not responsible for the content of external websites.

Public Record

By submitting content to DoJ’s social media channels, you acknowledge that your contributions are publicly available and may be retained as a public record under applicable legislation.

Caretaker periods

During elections, when the Queensland Government is in caretaker mode, the DoJ cannot host or respond to political content.

Platform Policies

DoJ social media channels are also subject to the terms of use and community standards of each respective platform. Users are expected to comply with both DoJ’s moderation guidelines and those broader platform policies. These standards include the following:
