Celebrate Privacy Awareness Week 2025

Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) will be held from 16–22 June 2025 and this year’s theme is Privacy: it’s everyone’s business.

Given the digital world we live in, we understand Queenslanders are invested in the value of their personal information and expect it to be protected when it’s in our hands. We do everything we can to protect your personal information regardless of whether we hold it in digital and hard copy format.

Our state is entering an exciting new era in privacy, following the passing of the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (IPOLA Act). The upcoming changes will improve the transparency and accountability of the Department of Justice, strengthen privacy protections for individuals and better align with the Commonwealth Privacy Act.

PAW shines a light on the importance of protecting and respecting personal information. Here at the Department of Justice, we take your privacy seriously and we do everything we can to ensure your privacy rights are respected. After all, it’s everyone’s business.
