What we offer our employees
Flexibility at Department of Justice (DoJ) is not one size fits all. It’s about finding arrangements that work for you and your team. Depending on your role, you may have access to:
- job-sharing
- part-time hours
- flexible start and finish times
- compressed working weeks (e.g., 8 or 9-day fortnight).
- work-from-home where operationally appropriate.
- co-located workspace access (also known as distributed work centres).
Leave options
We know time away from work is essential to rest, recharge, and focus on what matters most. With a range of leave options, you and your manager can tailor arrangements to suit your role and team, including:
- 4 weeks recreation leave per year, with 17.5% leave loading paid each December
- 13 weeks long service after 10 years, with the option to take it at half pay
- 14 weeks paid parental leave, with flexibility to extend using half pay or other leave types
- 10 days reproductive health leave to support your personal wellbeing
- 1 concessional day off at Christmas
- Half-pay leave options, allowing you to extend your breaks (e.g., turn 4 weeks into 8)
- Purchased leave, offering even more flexibility to suit your life outside of work
- Accrued time leave allows for flexibility in working hours, with hours worked beyond the standard 7.15-hour day to be used to take the time off later (also known as flexitime)
