Register to apply for GCBF funding

Once you've read the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) guidelines and checked your organisation’s eligibility for a GCBF grant, you're ready to register your organisation and prepare your application.

You can register your organisation on the GCBF online grants portal at any time. You must complete your registration in 1 session, so it’s best to have all your documents ready.

You need to know if your organisation should be registered as a legal entity or sponsored entity.

You can only register your organisation once. Applications submitted under a second registration for the same legal or sponsored entity won’t be eligible for funding.

Follow these steps to register your organisation.

Step 1—Check if your organisation is already registered

Go to the GCBF online grants portal and review the declaration. If you agree, click the checkbox at the bottom of the page and click ‘Continue’. You will then see the sign-in page.

Proceed immediately to Step 2 if your organisation isn’t already registered.

If you have an existing account, follow this process.

  1. Type your organisation’s legal name slowly in the ‘Name or Number’ field. If your organisation is registered, the name will appear in the dropdown list. If you believe your organisation is registered, but you can’t find it, contact us by emailing cbf@justice.qld.gov.au or phoning 1800 633 619 (freecall).
  2. Once your organisation’s name appears, click it so it populates in the ‘Name or Number’ field. If you don’t take this step, your password won’t be accepted.
  3. Type your password—don’t copy and paste or save the password—and click ‘Sign in’.
  4. If you don’t remember your password, click ‘Forgot your password?’. Your accountable officer should receive an email with the new password (make sure they check spam and junk mail folders). If they don’t, contact us to confirm the details of your accountable officer.
  5. Once you’re logged in, review your organisation’s details to ensure everything is current, including the organisation’s financial position and contact details. You must keep the organisation’s details up-to-date to remain eligible for funding.
  6. Once you’ve confirmed your organisation details are up-to-date, click ‘Save and continue’. You can now start your application.

Step 2—Gather information for a legal or sponsored entity

Information a legal entity will need

If you’re registering as a legal entity, you'll need your organisation’s:

  • Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • GST status
  • incorporated association (IA) number (if applicable)
  • physical and post addresses (physical address must be in Queensland)
  • overview of objectives from your constitution (up to 1,000 characters)
  • bank verification form completed and stamped by your organisation’s financial institution (the bank details on the form must match the bank account details you register with)—if your financial institution can't complete the bank verification form, contact us for help
  • financial position (from your organisation’s financial reporting within the last 2 years)—your organisation won’t be eligible for funding if your financial information is more than 2 years old
  • accountable officer’s details—we will email correspondence to the accountable officer
  • president’s contact details—if the president is also the accountable officer, include another committee member, such as the treasurer or secretary.

If we can’t clearly identify your organisation’s eligibility through public registers, we may ask you to submit supporting documents, such as:

  • a certificate of incorporation
  • a certificate of registration under an Act of Parliament
  • a copy of the constitution to verify not-for-profit objectives
  • a letters patent
  • a trust deed
  • shareholder information.

Financial position

Keep your financial statements and make them available if we request them. Your organisation won’t be eligible for funding if your financial information is more than 2 years old.

Financial information can be sourced from:

  • audited financial statements
  • your organisation’s most recent balance sheet or income and expenditure statement
  • financial reports provided to your regulator in the latest annual report
  • financial reports tabled at the latest annual general meeting or committee meeting.

If your organisation is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981, read the Office of Fair Trading's financial reporting responsibilities.

Information a sponsored entity will need

If registering as a sponsored entity, you’ll need your organisation’s:

  • physical and postal address (physical address must be in Queensland)
  • overview of objectives from the constitution (up to 1,000 characters)
  • financial position
  • contact details
  • accountable officer’s details—we will email correspondence to the accountable officer
  • president’s contact details—if the president is also the accountable officer, include another committee member, such as the treasurer or secretary.

Once you have this information, you’re ready to register your organisation on the GCBF online grants portal.

Step 3—Register your organisation

Before starting the registration process, make sure you have gathered all the required information. You can’t save an incomplete registration, so make sure you can finish the process in 1 session.

On the sign-in page, click ‘Register your organisation’ to complete the online registration. The process should take about 10 minutes to complete.

Step 4—Receive your login to apply for funding

Once you’ve registered, we’ll email your accountable officer your organisation’s registration number and password to log in to the GCBF online grants portal and apply for funding.

If you don’t receive your new password after a few minutes, check your spam or junk mail or contact us for assistance by emailing cbf@justice.qld.gov.au or phoning 1800 633 619 (freecall).

The accountable officer is responsible for ensuring the safe and secure use of the password. They should not share it with other users unless authorised by the organisation.

Now you can start your application.
