During 2025 the Public Advocate hosted two roundtable discussions on urgent mental health care in Queensland.
The roundtables were organised following a series of conversations between members of Mental Health Lived Experience Peak Queensland (MHLEPQ) and the Public Advocate, which highlighted some of the challenges experienced by those who have accessed urgent mental health care, and the limitations of the complaints system in addressing their concerns.
Each roundtable was attended by critical stakeholders including representatives from; Arafmi, the Queensland Mental Health Commission, the Queensland Human Rights Commission, the Mental Health Review Tribunal, Griffith University, Queensland Health, the Office of the Health Ombudsman, the Office of the Public Guardian and MHLEPQ.
The notes from the first roundtable, held on 16 July 2025, are available here.
Notes from the second roundtable will be available, once finalised, on this page.
