Southport DFV court officially opens
Queensland’s domestic and family violence reform program reached a major milestone on 19 October 2017 with the official opening of Southport’s permanent specialist domestic and family violence court.
The launch, attended by more than 80 guests, included tours of the new court and facilities, including the new DFV registry, a secure victim safety precinct and lounge, secure entry to the courtroom and a secure children’s play area.
Southport’s specialist DFV court has dealt with more than 12,000 matters since the trial of the new court model began on 1 September 2015.
