Specialist support services

New specialist services were established across Queensland to better support people affected by domestic and family violence (DFV).

These services will strengthen the capacity of the service system to respond to the needs of people affected by DFV, particularly in locations where limited or no specialist services previously existed.

They will work closely with the specialist DFV workers based in each of the Family and Child Connect and Intensive Family Support services.

Individuals will have greater access to specialised DFV support, including:

new and enhanced perpetrator programs
new and enhanced domestic violence counselling services
court-based support for victims and respondents
safety upgrade services to enhance home security measures as part of a safety plan for victims of DFV
new crisis shelters for women and children escaping DFV.

The services will also be available to support families at risk of entering or re-entering the child protection system as a result of DFV.
