Support for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month activities
We acknowledge the importance of actively supporting Queensland communities to undertake local campaigns to raise awareness of domestic and family violence (DFV) and encourage communities and individuals to take a stand to stop DFV.
Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month is held each May to raise community awareness of DFV and to send a clear message that violence of this sort will not be tolerated. It is an opportunity to encourage communities and individuals to speak out against violence and abuse and to empower people to work together towards its prevention.
In response to recommendation 23 of the Not now, not ever report, we increased funding for the community grants programs to expand community initiatives and events supporting DFV prevention.
Funding is available under the Investing in Queensland Women grant program to support the month's events and initiatives throughout the year that contribute to DFV awareness and prevention.
