Respect matters for schools
Student leaders and staff from North Lakes State College and Caboolture State High School were honoured to attend the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council’s Moreton Bay forum to discuss the importance of equality and respect.
Shaan Ross-Smith, Director, Griffith University’s MATE program facilitated a workshop for students, school staff and council members to unpack how rigid gender stereotypes can limit opportunities for both men and women.
Students also had the opportunity to learn about some of the different strategies bystanders can safely use to interrupt incidents of abuse or violence.
Staff and students left inspired to go back to their school communities to share what they had learned and to look for ways to speak out about abuse and build respect.
