This year SANDBAG Inc in collaboration with QPS, BCC, Bracken Ridge Lions Club and local MPs will be offering a full day of activities that supports all women, young people and children. The event will commence at 10am at SANDBAG Inc community hall. There will be agency stalls, pamper corners, art and craft activities, pre-loved clothing stalls, food, children's playgroup, and music to enjoy. We will also be welcoming guest speakers on the day. Vanessa Fowler from the Allison Baden-Clay Foundation will be discussing coercive control. Anita East, Entrepreneur, Cosmetic Nurse Practitioner, Founder, CEO and Director of AE Medispa, Author, and Speaker will be offering a method to ensure women discover and then honour their unique beauty. Anita's bestselling first book, Beautiful Unique Faces will be discussed and available for purchase, along with Anita's creative affirmation cards that highlight ways to make more positive changes in your life. Later that day the 4017 community and surrounding suburbs will be coming together in Einbunpin Park Lagoon at 3.30pm to commence our Annual Peaceful Walk and Candle-lighting Ceremony. This year the walk will be lead by a group of young men who attend Shorncliffe's St Patricks College. This is to highlight the importance of young people being included in the eradication of domestic and family violence (DFV); saying no to DFV and yes to healthy relationships. Come to the park and share a coffee before your walk! We would love to have you present as we honour those who have lost their lives to DFV and their families who are left behind. On 31 May at 10am SANDBAG's DFV Counselling Service will be coordinating the Annual Tree-Planting Ceremony with the support of local MP Sandy Landers, MP Luke Howarth and local schools. When we nurture nature, it survives and thrives. Similarly, when we nurture and support women and children impacted by abuse, we help them to grow and thrive, to recover and to go forward as active community members. Come together to plant more trees along the Bald Hills / Bracken Ridge waterway and to remember the survivors of DFV, and to also take a moment to honour those lives lost due to domestic violence.
