Women's Safety and Violence Prevention community events calendar

The events promoted in the Women's Safety and Violence Prevention community events calendar send a clear message that gendered violence will not be tolerated, and that our community will strive for promotion and protection of women’s rights, interests and wellbeing all year round.

Community groups are encouraged to register an event to be considered for inclusion in the calendar.

Gympie Lantern Walk

Thursday 23 May 2024 17.00 pm

Community Action - Gympie Region Domestic and Family Violence Service

The Domestic Violence Lantern Vigil is held every year in Gympie to celebrate Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, remember the lives of those lost to domestic violence, and to raise awareness in the community. Holding the lanterns high as we encircle the lake is a moving and visually beautiful experience. In 2024, our theme is 'Shedding Light on Coercive Control'. All community members (adults and children) are welcome. A warning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members that the names of people who have died are displayed onscreen.
